Spring Training Updates & Snelling sent to AAA

Things are starting to pan out for opening day now. The Phillies today outrighted Chris Snelling to triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he will join Travis Blackley. He played again today, striking out in his only at bat, as the Phils lost to the Jays 1-3. He will be hoping to improve on his .195 spring average to earn a recall during the season proper.

Trent Oeltjen played, but did not seem to get any at bats, spending some time in left field.

Justin Huber played again for the Padres, with some time in left field and some time at first base. However he missed out with the bat, going 0-for-3 with one strikeout and one GIDP. SD won 4-1 against the Angels. The Padres announced their 25-man roster for opening day, and Huber is on it. Good stuff!

As the teams work to finalise their opening day rosters, Ryan Rowland-Smith spoke to mlb.com about what is in store for 2008.
