Spring Training Update (12 Mar 08)

Plenty of good performances from Aussies playing in spring training games today:
  • Ryan Rowland-Smith pitched in Seattle's loss to Colorado. He and Felix Hernandez kept the Rockies scoreless for six innings, before some of the other Mariners' releivers let in 4 runs to cop the loss. Another good performance from Rowland-Smith, who has had a very steady spring.
  • Rich Thompson pitched well against the Padres. He gave up 1 hit over 2 innings of work, getting 2 strikeouts, 3 fly-outs and 1 caught stealing.
  • Peter Moylan put in another reliable performance for the Braves. He gave up a double to Felipe Lopez, but went on to take two strikeouts and a ground out to finish the seventh in the Braves' 2-2 tie with the Nationals.
  • Justin Huber continued to stake his claim for a spot on the Royal's roster, driving in a 2 out RBI double to take the lead in the Royals' 8-7 win over the D-Backs. He really has been turning in some impressive performances so far this spring.
Stay tuned for a review of spring training performances so far, and predictions for how things might pan out for Aussies in the MLB this year.
