Spring Training updates (17 Mar 08)

A few updates from today's action:
  • Grant Balfour faced one batter and retired him with a fly out as TB win over Detroit
  • The Phillies make me look like a goose and win a game, with both Blackley and Snelling involved. Blackley faced three batters in the ninth inning, walking one, getting one to flyout and the other to ground into a DP. Chris Snelling got a hit and 2 RBI
  • Looks like Trent Oeltjen spent some time in the field but did not bat in Arizona's game

Some news out of Seattle regarding Ryan Rowland-Smith, following his good outing on Sunday (Saturday US time). Bleeding Blue and Teal say that it seems

'The consensus on RRS is that he'll start the year in AAA as a starter, but
if he continues to put up zeros and finds his control the team will have no
choice but to consider carrying him as a middle or long reliever. If injuries
temporarily limit Seattle's bullpen depth, there is no reason not to carry RRS
for the first month or so'
