Yep, Troy Percival is on the DL, and the Rays have called up Grant Balfour from AAA Durham. MLB.com is reporting that following today's loss to the Chicago White Sox, the Rays optioned utility infielder Ben Zobrist to Durham to make room for Balfour. Percival was placed on the 15-day DL, even though scans showed no major damage to his hamstring.
The St Petersburg Times is predicting that Balfour will operate as a setup man, while existing members of the pen will close.
Congrats Grant! The numbers of Aussies in the bigs is starting to swell!
