Spring Training Updates (15 Mar 08)

Plenty of Aussies in action today. Less than two weeks till opening day, not long to go now. How many will make it to the bigs?

  • Justin Huber had one at bat and grounded into a double play in the Royals' loss to the Rangers.
  • Chris Snelling actually got a start today as the DH for the Phils. He got a double and a walk, but the Phils lost 9-1 to the Braves. Pitching for the Braves, Peter Moylan faced 4 batters, and gave up one walk (to Snelling) but no hits.
  • Grant Balfour got the win today for the Rays in their matchup with Toronto. He pitched the last 1.2 innings. After getting out of the 8th inning, and losing 3-4, the Rays' offense scored five runs. Balfour closed out the ninth, and Tampa Bay took the game 8-4.
  • Another outing for Rich Thompson, who got the save as the Angels beat the Cubs. He faced only 6 batters in 2 innings, and struck out 2. Good stuff.
  • Trent Oeltjen got bat on ball in his pinch hit today, reaching base on an error by Giants' shortstop Ivan Ochoa (who made three errors in the game - ouch!). The D-Backs lost 11-6
